For anyone interested in getting involved, you can join other volunteers who are helping us with event
and program coordination, publicity, fund-raising, and grant writing.
We have never charged girls to participate in our groups, and almost all of the facilitator's time has been
volunteered. As an organization, we need your financial support in order to continue serving girls and provide
this opportunity in other communities. Please help us by making as generous a contribution as possible. Your

The Need for the Girls Star Programs
Adolescent girls face incredible challenges including extraordinary stress, depression, addictions,
eating disorders, abusive relationships, and family problems to cite a few. They must make choices about
whether they will engage in common, but potentially dangerous behaviors.
Some girls appear to have serious problems while others appear to be fine. Perhaps most surprising is the
number of well-adjusted girls who tell us that there is no place for them to be confused or scared, and
that people assume since they have no serious problems, everything is okay. Although they experience
problems and challenges in varying degrees, regardless if they're troubled or well adjusted, girls have
expressed a need for support and nonjudgmental listening, and for a safe space to talk.
In order for adolescent girls to thrive in our society as responsible, contributing and healthy women,
it is critical to provide them with the necessary intra/interpersonal skills they can utilize now and
throughout their lives. Girls Star provides a structured program designed to teach these skills.
Girls Star's goal is to provide girls with the tools to help them thrive, not merely survive.
